The main material of non-woven shopping bags is polypropylene (PP), the most widely used chemical fiber. According to Baidu Encyclopedia, non-woven fabric (also known as nonwoven cloth) is a product made primarily from polypropylene and other chemical fibers, formed by oriented or random fiber arrangement to create a web structure, and then reinforced mechanically or thermally.

Shopping bags are not woven from warp and weft threads in traditional textiles, hence the name "non-woven." Besides the dominant polypropylene (PP, approximately 63%), fibers used in the production of non-woven fabrics also include polyester (PET, approximately 23%) and viscose fiber (approximately 8%). These raw materials determine the basic properties of the finished product: PP non-woven fabric is lightweight, durable, breathable, and relatively inexpensive, making it the preferred choice for most storage bags on the market. PET non-woven fabric has a more structured appearance and is often used in situations requiring a higher level of quality. In recent years, the application of bio-based materials such as polylactic acid (PLA) has also increased, gaining attention due to its more environmentally friendly nature.
